LONG WAY HOME
GLG - GREG LLOYD GROUP
"Wistful intuition and a small is beautiful approach make for a striking debut from Irish-Australian Jazz pianist Greg Lloyd."
Debut album "Long Way Home" weaves together all of Greg’s experiences from growing up in Australia, and a decade living in Ireland, as well as the years in Paris and in Algiers. Greg has been inspired by it all. His music reflects this cocktail of influences: Jazz, North African Chaabi, Cuban and Irish music.

Greg would like to thank all the musicians of the El Gusto Orchestra from the Irish/French/Algerian movie documentary 'El Gusto' for track 2. In particular, Hadi el Anka for sharing this beautiful 'Chaabi' music with me, the homegrown music of the Algerian Casbah. It was an honour to spend many a month with all 46 musicians in Algiers, compose, rehearse, arrange and orchestrate this music in the film/tour and be apart of this reunion of wonderful Muslim and Jewish musicians.
